BETTY ANN SAARI
(nee OLSON)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Ann Saari, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Born in Flin Flon, MB, Betty's life exemplified resilience, creativity, and love.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her children, Jamie Saari Crawford, Kendall Saari, and Laurinda Saari; her grandchildren, Hannah Crawford, Ethan Saari, and Aspen aka Hunter Crawford; her former husband, Cecil Saari; siblings, Erva Pearce, Edwin Olson, Lee Olson, and William Olson (Tina); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Therese Olson, and brother, John Olson.
Her life was a testament to her dedication as a stay-at-home mother and caregiver when her children were young. She was a Sunday school teacher and leader for Brownies and Girl Guides. After graduating and receiving a trophy for outstanding academic achievement from Red River College's Graphic Arts Program, she built a fulfilling career at Jostens and later at St. Amant as a support worker. She was a skilled artisan, with a natural ability to build and repair with ease.
Betty adored her grandchildren, spoiling them with abandon. Her only rule? No rules! She famously turned her living room into a year-round pool party. She had a great love for animals and they loved her even more. She always had treats ready for her grandchildren and all the pets in the neighbourhood.
Betty's legacy will be remembered through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
Funeral arrangements will be announced separately.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Winnipeg Humane Society would be appreciated.

Dear friends and family, I wanted to let everyone know that we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone my mother’s funeral until next summer. With the ongoing wildfires in the Flin Flon area and the continued restrictions on returning home, we feel this is the safest and most respectful choice for everyone. After some communication, it’s clear that the community still needs time and space to recover and resources are understandably limited. I feel it’s best to wait until it’s safe and the town is ready to welcome visitors again. When the time comes, I hope we can bring some business and support back into the community. I look forward to bringing people together in her memory when the time is right. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support during this time. I’ll share more details as we’re able to make new arrangements. Please keep the people of Flin Flon and all those affected by the fires in your thoughts. Take care and stay safe. I am Betty Olson Saari's oldest daughter, Jamie Saari Crawford, and would like to direct people to write comments and send messages on the obituary page at the link below. As we grieve we are using this page as one we will eventually transform into a book about my mother. I personally wrote the song playing on the page in memory of my mother and you can look through photographs and connect with people there. Thank you. https://www.forevermissed.com/betty-ann- saari/ - Posted by: Jamie Saari Crawford (Daughter) on: Apr 14, 2025

Betty was the best co worker. Her and I worked the day shift together for many years. We always had a great time and she made going to work a pressure. I will forever cherish the many memories we shared together. You we be greatly miss. - Posted by: Amber (Former Co worker at St.Amant) on: Apr 12, 2025
