Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARLENE PATTERSON
Surrounded by her family, Darlene Shirley Patterson passed away peacefully on the evening of April 27, 2025, at the Boissevain Health Centre.
Darlene was born on May 29, 1933, to Evelyn Fletcher in East St. Paul, Manitoba. She was adopted by John and Ada Conden of Wawanesa, where she was raised with older siblings Lester, Evelyn, and Ruby. Later in life, she re-united with her birth mother Evelyn Cooke, sisters Joyce (Ben) and Pat (Chuck), and their families.
Darlene attended Wawanesa School and then went on to work at the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance company. She met a young farmer, Ken Patterson, at a dance in Riverside, and they were married on October 31, 1953. Last Fall, Darlene and Ken celebrated their 71st anniversary. They have been an inspiration to us all, showing us how love, respect, and family are the cornerstones of a strong marriage.
Darlene was an excellent cook and loved baking. She and Ken loved to dance, and attended dances all over the countryside. They spent many years bowling and volunteering at the museum, and Darlene frequently volunteered at the thrift shop. She played the piano by ear for her family's entertainment and enjoyed travelling with Ken.
Darlene loved seeing her grandchildren and always had their favourite foods at the ready. She was a loving and supportive wife, a wonderful mom and grandmother, and she leaves a huge hole in our hearts.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband Ken, daughter Anne (Dale), Bev (Patti), and Michael (Juanita); granddaughter Kristin (Chad) and great-grandson Ryder, grandson Shawn and great-grandchildren Molly and William, and grandson Darien (Leia). Darlene is also survived by her nieces and nephews, and their families. She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Ada Conden, mother Evelyn Cooke, brother Lester, sisters Evelyn and Ruby (George), sisters Joyce and Pat, niece Cheryl Jackson (Murray), and granddaughter Taryn.
If so desired, donations may be made to the Boissevain Health Centre Palliative Care unit, to the Boissevain-Morton foundation, or to a charity of your choice. Ken does not have a goat, so please refrain from sending flowers.
