WAYNE WINSTON MARSH BROATCH

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all, and those lucky to know him.

Wayne was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Leslie - after her passing three years ago, it was very difficult to move on without her, yet he made the best of it with the support of his family and dear friends. He will be remembered lovingly, as a wonderful, funny, generous and inspiring father by his two children, Glen and Casey, son-in-law Spencer, grandchildren, Kelsea, Payton and Myah; great-grandchildren, George and Stella, and all his nieces and nephews and family and friends throughout Canada and the U.S.

Wayne Winston Marsh was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, to James and Violet Broatch, and sibling to Diane, Ralph, Bruce and Jamie. Wayne grew up in Winnipeg, later moving to Vancouver. Many happy memories were made at the family cottages at Winnipeg Beach, that both sides of the family and all relatives enjoyed at some point. Wayne served in the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry out of high school and was proud of this time. Upon discharge, he met the love of his life, Leslie. Wayne and Leslie remained in Winnipeg until 1973 and then moved to Vancouver. Wayne and Leslie remained in Vancouver for the rest of their lives, raising their children and grandchildren.

Wayne relocated to Vancouver to represent the fastener industry in the West. He had a very successful business in the garment industry and spent his career in all areas of the garment and apparel industry, smiling his way through the factories and making dear friends with all of his customers, most who have become lifelong friends. Wayne loved to golf and spent many days a week enjoying rounds at Peace Portal or Marine Drive and many other golf courses, and many golf trips with Leslie and dear friends through the U.S and Canada. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by all who knew his wit and humour, friendly smile and love of his family, animals and golf. May there be endless French fries and steak with you now Dad. We will miss you every day.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Hello Casey and Glen, I signed to the Free Press today looking for somebody else and I got the shock of my life when I saw your Dad’s obituary. He passed a month ago. It did not say when or where. Was there a funeral? I would see him at times when I came to the Coast. Leslie was there on my last visit and we smoked in the garage. I know Casey that you and Spencer had moved into his house and your kids to come later. I know he had health issues but he still insisted on living a good life. He was so much fun to be with and your Mom too. It was a shock when she passed. I will miss not seeing him again. My sincere sympathy to all of you. - Posted by: Mattie Middlehurst (long time friend) on: Jun 02, 2025
