MYRNA COLLETTE VERCAIGNE

October 9, 1956 – February 16, 2025

The sudden death of Myrna Collette Vercaigne occurred at the Foothills hospital in Calgary, Alberta on February 16, 2025. Myrna was born to George and Louise Vercaigne along with her twin sister, Maureen on October 9, 1956. They joined 3 other siblings, Lorna, Brian and Darhl on a farm near Elgin, MB.

The family moved to Brandon in 1960, for the 3 youngest to enter school and the 2 older to continue in higher grades, and George and Louise to start a hog operation outside the gates of Shilo. School was difficult for Myrna but it was later evident that her interests lay in office skills and she later worked at a feed mill in Winnipeg, Mb. for several years. She loved the phone and could recall many phone numbers. In 1990 Myrna and her parents moved to Calgary, Alberta. That same spring she was called upon to be a bone marrow donor for for Maureen. Afraid of hospitals, she bravely donated and helped save her twin's life.

We, Lorna LePoudre (Allan), Brian Vercaigne (Veronica), Darhl Vercaigne (Arlene), Maureen Munroe (Brent) mourn her passing but look forward to a Celebration of Life on May 25, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Riverbank Discovery Center in Brandon on Conservation Drive. Please join in this celebration to send Myrna off!

Many thanks to Lorette Dumonceaux from Calgary and all her friends in Brandon, Deloraine, Calgary and other places who warmly cared for Myrna in person or by phone. May Myrna be forever free to travel to her wild imaginings.
