CHERI LYNNE STAPLE

Cheri passed away peacefully Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Riverview Care Centre, with her parents and brother by her side.

Cheri was born on May 31, 1977, to Rosiland and Morris Michalishyn. Morris passed away in 1978. Roz met Brian Staple in 1980 and in 1981 they married and Brian adopted Cheri and they became a family. In 1982 Cheri was blessed with a baby brother Wayne.

Cheri grew up in Charleswood and attended Oak Park High School, graduating with honours in both French and English. Cheri started working for Hillary Production Machining and was there for almost 25 years. They became her family. Cheri loved her job and co-workers and always thought she would be able to go back to work one day.

Her hobbies included, cooking, baking and crafts. There were many family, friends and co-workers who benefited from this. She loved to spoil everyone, especially her nephews, Caden and Brycen, who were her pride and joy.

Cheri was a generous, loving and giving young woman with many talents. She donated to many charities and also sponsored children from other countries. She wanted to help out wherever she could. Her final wish was for anyone was to donate to the Cancer Society or a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.

The family would like to thank all those who phoned, texted and visited until her passing. This gave her peace and happiness. Thank you, Donna, Linda, and Heather. Your Bible studies and prayers with her meant a lot. Thank you to my sister Robie and brother-in-law Marcel for your love and support. You were a special Aunt and Uncle to her and she enjoyed your constant visits and the goodies you would bring her.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the Riverview Health Care for their constant love and dedication that you gave Cheri. You gave Cheri comfort in her final days.

Cheri is survived by her mother Rosiland, father Brian, brother Wayne, sister-in-law Angela, and loving nephews, Caden and Brycen.

A private interment for immediate family to follow at a later date.

The Celebration of Life for Cheri Lynn Staple will be held on May 24, Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Hello Ros and Brian - We have been thinking about Cheri recently and happened to search for her and this sad news popped up. How shocked we were to read of her passing. She was such a sweet girl and she and our daughter Kelly were the best of friends, with birthdays 1 day apart. We have fond memories of many sleep overs and shared birthday parties and fun time spent together growing up. Our deepest condolences to you and the family on such a heartbreaking loss. - Posted by: Judy and Bill MacKenzie (former neighbours) on: Aug 21, 2025

  • My deepest condolences to Cheri’s family. Cheri will be missed dearly. She was a sweetheart, very kind and thoughtful friend. She spoke highly of her family, and was very proud of her two nephews. She loved her job, and considered her workplace a second home. She also was a big Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan. Cheri was a fighter, and liked encouraging friends with her positive vibes. Cheri enjoyed studying the bible. Isaiah 41:10 and 1Corinthians 10:13 were two scriptures that helped her faced her battles with courage and strength. Cheri looked forward to the fulfillment of Revelation 21:3-4 under God’s Kingdom, where she said “I will bake again”. Rest in sleep my friend. We will see you again when you are resurrected back to life in God’s promised new world. - Posted by: Donna (Friend) on: May 19, 2025

  • We will really miss our friend Cheri. She was fun to be around and spend time with. She was so generous with her time and always willing to help. She loved being part of our art shows, taking care of customers and transactions. It was always so much fun going out for coffee and dinners with her. We will miss her laughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loving parents and family who looked after her so well. - Posted by: Heather and Linda (Friends) on: May 18, 2025
