RICHARD DOUGLAS JOHN PHILLIPS
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Douglas John Phillips on May 10, surrounded by his loving family at Riverview Palliative Care. He is survived by Terry, his wife of 44 years, his two sons Brian (Sonja) and Ian (Laine), grandchildren Graham and Isla; brother Roderick (Natasha), and sisters Carolyn and Dominika (Desmond), and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Myra Phillips and his father, George Phillips.
Richard was born in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to Winnipeg as a child. He grew up in St. Norbert and attended St. Paul's High School. He loved music, golf, Formula 1, biking with the Bike Boys, and spending time with his family and close friends. He was a joyous presence in all our lives and every room he walked into.
As per his wishes he was cremated, and the family had a private celebration of his life.
We want to thank the kind staff at CancerCare and Riverview. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

I was sorry to hear that Rick had passed. My condolences to Terry and her family. I met Rick thru my school friend Terry and he was accepted into our little gang right away. He was fun and loved to laugh. We shared an interest in music . He was doing part time music DJ at that time. I haven't seen Rick and Terry since those early years as everybody's life moves on but I keep those good memories close to me. Rest in peace Rick. - Posted by: Jeff Cummer (Friend) on: May 21, 2025

My deepest condolences to everyone in the Phillip's family. I first met Richard over 40 years ago when we both worked at the Fort Richmond Safeway. Now a Sobeys. We had a lot of fun working there. I lost touch with Richard as he moved on to other endeavours out of Manitoba. By chance, we ran into each other at the rehfit center a few years ago and were able to catch up. We would see each other there from time to time and i always enjoyed our conversations. Richard was an interesting friend and always was upbeat and positive. My heart sank today when I read of his passing. My impression of Richard was of someone that loved life and he tried to live it as fully as he could. I will miss him. Rest in Peace Richard. He loved his family so much and I am happy he was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing. God speed Richard. Ingrid. - Posted by: Ingrid Butler-Sieben (Friend) on: May 17, 2025
