On May 18, 2025, at 10:50 a.m., John B. Sawatzky, aged 87, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. His sense of humour and his creativity will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Sara; son Daryl (Janet) and granddaughter Becky (Kyle) and great-granddaughter Noa June, granddaughter Jenny (Dan); daughter Leanne (Vince) and granddaughter Stephanie (Jared), grandson Josh and granddaughter Jordyn; son Perry and Alana; eight of his siblings: Ben, Jake, George, Louie, Irene , Victor, Emmy, and Hedy, and their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
Donations can be made to Square One World Media, a function of MB Communications, or Mennonite Central Committee.
