CLAUDETTE ALINE SABOURIN

(nee PARENT)

Claudette passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at Actionmarguerite Saint Vital (Foyer Valade) at the age of 84 years old. Claudette touched so many lives with her brilliant smile and her infectious laughter. Her welcoming persona will be greatly missed for people who were fortunate enough to have known Claudette.

Claudette is survived by her children, Doris (Guy), Bruno (Jannine), Patricia and Maria, her Argentinian AFS daughter. Also, her seven grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole, Joëlle, Alex, Jenna, Beau, AlexiLee; as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. Claudette was predeceased by her husband Bernard; her brothers, Renald, Marcel and Paul Parent. Claudette is survived by her seven siblings, Danielle (late Jack Churchill), Noella, Gilbert (Carole), Roland (Lynda), Suzanne (Warren), Paulette (James), Norbert (Lucette); and sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Juliette; as well as Ben’s sister Claudette (late David Zilli); brother René (Gisele); and predeceased Lorraine (Gerry Muller) and Gérald Sabourin.

Claudette led a fruitful and varied life as she balanced a career and family life. As a young St. Joseph girl, Claudette moved to Winnipeg to work at The Bay as an executive assistant and modeled on the side. A few years later, Claudette married Ben, moving to St. Jean and raising her children as she worked side by side with her husband in numerous business ventures, ending her career as an administrative secretary for the French program at the St. Boniface University. Claudette had many past hobbies, such as ceramics and calligraphy. In her retirement years, Claudette and her husband Ben thoroughly enjoyed their 15 years at Albert Beach where they both welcomed family and friends who have lasting memories of great barbecues, card games and beach walks. During these years, Claudette pursued gardening, her favourite pastime, which was her pride and passion. Neighbours sought her gardening advice in beautifying their gardens and Claudette was responsible for the beautiful planters at the front of the condos at Place DesMeurons. Plant a flower in Claudette’s memory.

We thank all the caregivers for the last six months for Claudette’s time at St. Boniface, HSC and the Grace Hospital; including the staff at Riverwood Square Retirement Home and Foyer Valade, your knowledgeable skills and care were greatly appreciated. We also wish to thank our families and friends for their prayers.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will follow at a later date next spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
