JACK EDWIN MCKAY

January 20, 1948 – May 24, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Jack Edwin McKay on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Jack was born on January 20, 1948, in Berens River, Manitoba, where he was raised as one of thirteen siblings in a large and loving family. He lived a long and fulfilled life, grounded in hard work, family, and quiet strength.
Jack was a proud and dedicated ironworker, committing over 50 years to the trade. His journey began with courage and determination — hitchhiking to the United States as a young man to pursue a better life through work. That leap of faith marked the beginning of a lifelong career that he carried out with pride and integrity.
Jack is survived by his children: Daryll, Darren, Jenny (Jason), and Derek (Melanie); and his grandchildren: Ashley, Anthony, Damian, Christian, Jordan, and Haley. He also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Doreen, Hilda, Mary, Kathy, and Jimmy.
After the passing of his beloved wife Debbie on April 29, 2018, Jack and his son Darren moved to Manitou, Manitoba, where they built a strong and meaningful friendship. Jack will be especially missed by Darren, whose close bond with his father brought comfort and connection in their years together.
While living in Manitou, Jack also received exceptional care and support from his daughter-in-law Melissa, for which the family is deeply grateful.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Joseph, his daughter Tammy, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Jack is now reunited with his wife of 40 years, Debbie. Their bond remains an enduring part of his story.
Jack will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack’s memory to:
