SHIRLEY IRENE FLEMMING

(nee Barfield)

June 15, 1943 - May 21, 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our sister Shirley, in Edmonton, due to a brief illness.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Jerry Flemming on June 17, 2018.

Shirley was born and raised in Winnipeg and was employed by T. Eatons Company as a Telephone Service operator for a number of years. While still in Winnipeg she subsequently met and married Jerry and moved to Edmonton. In Edmonton Shirley was employed at the University of Alberta for thirty years where she retired in 2007.

Shirley loved to travel, loved her plants and working in the garden, bowling, going to the casino and spending time with her friends.

She was especially known for her love of animals taking in a number of strays both cats and dogs over the years.

Shirley will be dearly missed by her sisters, Vickie, Beverley, Lynne and Dianne, niece Sherry (Bob), great-niece Sydney, nephew Kerri (Mel), stepdaughters Linda, Karen and their families.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Betty Keith (a very dear friend of Shirley's) for her unwavering support being invaluable.

Special thanks to Shirley's neighours on 142nd St. Iris, Kaye and Elsie being there when needed.

Thank you also to the many dedicated caregivers and health professionals at Chartwell Griesbach and Fort Saskatchewan Hospital.
