KEITH DOUGLAS MCLARTY

It is with great sadness we announce that after a lengthy battle with cancer, Keith Douglas McLarty passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 90, with his family by his side.

Keith was born on February 18, 1935 in Franklin, Manitoba. Keith is survived by his wife Margaret; daughters, Kimberly (Ann-Marie) and Shelley (Aaron); grandsons, Trent (Lauren), Tyler and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Harlow, and Skye. He was predeceased by his parents, Neil and Edith McLarty; sister Ruth; brothers, William, Don and Jack.

Keith started his job at Winnipeg Electric in 1952 and worked there until he retired from Winnipeg Hydro in January 1990. Along the way he met and married his wife Margaret on February 27, 1971. He loved to spend time out in his garden. Keith was a proud member of the Masons at Sturgeon Creek Lodge NO.145 for many years.

In keeping with Keith's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

  • I worked with Keith for many years in Winnipeg Hydro. After he retired I lost touch but had the opportunity to reconnect several months ago. I met with him several times and we reminisced about our time working together and his life after retirement. It was great to catch up. Sorry to hear of his passing. My Condolences go out to Margret, Shelley, Kimberly and family. - Posted by: Pat English (co worker) on: Jun 03, 2025

  • Where to start? So many memories of great times at Bird River and our fly in fishing trips. Keith, the quiet one who you always knew had a zinger on the way he was just waiting for the opportunity to use it. I remember the time we weee at an outpost camp and Jim and Murray thought it would be fun to shoot some beer cans with a pellet gun. Keith nearly cried when he realized the boys were shooting at full beer cans. To the family I am sorry for your loss. It’s been many years since I’ve seen most of you as I have been in Alberta for almost 25 years now. Keith will be missed and I’ll say a prayer for your family as they seek peace and comfort at this difficult time. Keep the good memories close and speak of him often.
