Dennis Podolsky passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in his 74th year, with his devoted wife, Andree Gagne, lovingly by his side. Born in Vita, Manitoba, on November 20, 1950, Dennis was the beloved son of the late Michael and Nettie Podolsky (née Nenka).
He was a cherished brother to Bill (Margaret), Richard (Bev), and the late Bob (Mariette), and will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Dennis earned his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Manitoba before relocating to Ottawa, where he built a distinguished career with the Federal Government. His expertise and dedication left a lasting mark on Canada's capital, particularly through his work upgrading the historic buildings and Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. A proud highlight of his career was serving as the engineering project lead for the creation of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - a contribution recognized with an award from the Royal Canadian Legion for his unwavering commitment.
After retiring, Dennis and Andree settled in Agassiz, British Columbia, where they have spent the last 16 years surrounded by the natural beauty of the Fraser Valley and the warmth of their community.
Though his passing brings great sorrow, those who knew Dennis find comfort in the memory of his gentle spirit, humour, kindness, and steadfast love. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the meaningful work he accomplished.
A celebration of Dennis' life will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home and Crematorium Ltd., 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, BC. A reception will follow at 4:00 p.m. at 6930 Hawthorne Place, Agassiz, BC.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate health care workers at Agassiz Community Seniors Residence and the many friends and neighbours whose love and support have meant so much.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Association of Canada in honour of Dennis Podolsky.
He will be deeply missed and
forever remembered.
