"I give her all my love / That's all I do / And if you saw my love / You'd love her too..."
Heather Lynn Westdal passed away peacefully in Winnipeg on June 6, 2025, at the age of 78. She leaves behind a world brighter for her presence, and a family - along with so many friends - who adored her endlessly.
Heather’s laugh and positive energy echoes in our homes and our hearts. She was a vibrant woman, life of the party, that lit up every room she entered. Her personality was magnetic. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Her door was always open, her ears always listening, and her advice always heartfelt. Her generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Heather lived by the belief that life was meant to be lived. Whether she was dancing at a party, pulling off a fabulous bright pink accented outfit, or skinny dipping at the lake, she showed up for life and all the adventures in it - often a little late, but always radiant.
She is remembered by the love of her life, Harold; her daughters, Kimberley (Greg) and Kristin (Chris); and her five grandchildren: Aspen, Grayden, Ryder, Freyja, and Max.
Somewhere out there, her unforgettable laughter - always paired with a radiant smile and the cutest dimples - still echoes. And always will.
A life well lived never truly ends - it lives on in the kindness shared, the stories told, and the love remembered.
We love you Heather, Mom, Nana - this world was brighter for so many because you were in it.
A private interment will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at Thompson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre and to Noelle, whose care and kindness meant so much in these last few years. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take someone you love out on an adventure - and celebrate life.

The world is indeed brighter because of your wonderful wife, mother and grandma Heather! We met at the lake when we were both mother's helpers at age 17. That friendship continued in the city and my social life was so much richer and fun with all the crazy activities we did together! Heather was the life of any get together and I have many great memories. Heather caught my wedding bouquet and I can still remember how she laughed when Harold was driving my husband and me to our hotel after our wedding! One of my daughters named her daughter Kristen and I have a great-grandson Grayden. She was so loving and supportive and will be remembered fondly by all who were blessed to have known her! My heart goes out to you all. May happy memories give you peace. Love and hugs from Diane in Fort Macleod, Alberta. - Posted by: Diane Scott Mokosch (Friend) on: Jun 19, 2025

Heather was colleague of mine at Balmoral Hall for many years. I always loved Heather's smile, her delight in life and her dimples! I had the privilege of teaching her 2 daughters in Grade 5, Kim and Kristen. They were a joy to teach! Harold and Heather were so supportive of their girls and their teachers. Sincere condolences go to the family. It has been a long journey for them and they will know their wife and mother is now at peace. I hope friends and happy memories will sustain them in their grief. I have extremely fond memories of Heather at Balmoral Hall. She was my homeroom teacher twice and I remember feeling that this was incredibly lucky - both because that homeroom was the gym but more importantly because she was such a kind, supportive and enthusiastic teacher. Very sincere condolences to your family. - Posted by: Lauren Toni (Former BH Student) on: Jun 17, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we heard of Heather's passing. Harold and Heather were close friends of my brother John Lee, who lived and worked for many years in Winipeg. John and Harold being largely instrumental in the discovery of the first diamond deposit (unfortunately not viable) in Manitoba. My sister Brenda and I unfortunately did not know Heather well, but met her through Harold who gave us tremendous assistance in winding up John's estate. Kristin, Chris, Kimberly, Greg and Harold, we understand it has been a tough journey, may you all find strength at this time. Love from South Africa. - Posted by: Malcolm Lee (Froend) on: Jun 16, 2025

Heather and I were great chums at university. She was the most caring kind person to help a new student to Manitoba Physical Education and I was honoured to be with her as she helped so many of us through it all. May her soul rest in peace and may her memory always be a blessing. - Posted by: BillParent (Friend and Collegial student U Manitoba) on: Jun 11, 2025

Heather and I became friends while attending Dakota Collegiate. Our friendship included several other students and we girls sure had fun together. As well as being a great friend and a successful student, Heather was a wonderful athlete. I was always happy to see her or to hear about her life as the years passed. My heartfelt condolences go to Heather’s family and her many other friends. It makes me sad to know she has passed away. ♥️ - Posted by: Susan Melnick (Friend) on: Jun 11, 2025
