• When I first arrived in Winnipeg, I knew no one. Celia and I were colleagues, and she kindly offered me her friendship and her time by showing me around and hanging out with me. When I knew virtually no one, she was there. Even after I left Winnipeg, we stayed friends and updated each other about our lives through messages. Though we only met once in person, I was fortunate to be on the same team and witness the warmth, dedication, and positivity she brought to her work — even from across the country. • John, Wanda and James, our favorite next-door neighbors of our youth, Renske and all the rest of Celia's loving family, it is with great shock and dismay to learn of Celia's unfair and tragic passing. We too have recently experienced such unexplainable and sudden loss, and can personally relate to the numbing disbelief that you are all going through now.
