It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Nonna and Bisnonna. Surrounded by her loving Daughter, Lucy and her son-in-law, Joe, Mom began her journey to eternal life.
Giuseppina was born in Santa Maria Imbaro, Abruzzo, Italy, the youngest of three daughters to Luca and Rosaria Piccirilli. She captured dad’s eye just before he entered the military in Italy, they were married and had two children; Carmine and Anna Lucia (Lucy) before emigrating to Canada in 1963.
Mom was the ultimate working mom, balancing full-time work, five to six days a week, and cooking delicious meals with ingredients from her Italian garden. Mom worked for many years at Victoria Leather as a finisher. She eventually gave up this physically demanding job to work in the kitchen at Maples Personal Care Home until her retirement. As a faithful and devoted member of Holy Rosary Parish, she assisted with the Italian mass for several years. She also volunteered with Folklorama and other cultural organizations for many years. We thank all who visited and cared for mom in the past years, your kindness will be paid forward.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore (2019), son Carmine (2018), son-in-law Vince Bova (1997), sisters Ersilia and Nicoletta (Italy), stepsister Irena (Toronto), parents Luca and Rosaria Piccirilli, brothers-in-law Nicola Melizza and Guido Martelli.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Lucy (Joe) Mascitelli, daughter-in-law Barbara; grandchildren, Mark (Nicky), Chrissy (Mark), Marlena (Ryan), Lisa (Niall); great-grandchildren, Laura, Andrea, Aiden, Sadie, Eveleigh, Andersen, and Alma; brother-in-law, Marino (Antonietta), and sister-in-law Elisa Martelli.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with condolences beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, located in Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Giuseppina may be made to Holy Rosary Church, a community dear to her.
