Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE PREYMA
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden peaceful passing of Anne Preyma (nee Deneka) on June 9, 2025 after a short battle with pneumonia.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Paul (Terry), Greg, Theresa (Ken), Philip (Colleen), Margie (Dwayne), Raymond and Gerald (Sunghee). She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also by her siblings, Olga and Nettie (Len), sister-in-law Julie, and brothers-in-law, Marvin (Nadia) and Len.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter, and sons, Lawrence (Bev) and David and her parents, Matthew and Pauline Deneka; siblings, Irene, Gregory, John and Matt; daughters-in-law, MaryAnne and Mary.
Anne was born in Sifton, Manitoba on July 28, 1931. She married Peter in 1947 and raised her nine children enthusiastically. In 1961 they moved to Winnipeg to provide their children with better educational opportunities. Anne also worked outside the home as a cleaner, nanny and cook. She taught her family the value of hard work and sacrifice in doing so. She always had time for us in between the cooking, cleaning, and family shenanigans. She had advice when you needed it and oozed wisdom and patience.
Anne had a life full of love for her family and friends. That love extended to the homeless where she volunteered at the Agape table for 25 plus years. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s and Holy Family Church and their respective ladies’ leagues. She was also a member of the Holy Family Home prayer group. She lived life to its full extent at Holy Family Home and the family would like to thank the staff for their care and support of mom over the past five years.
A viewing on Thursday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. and a service/Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m. both at Glen Eden Funeral Chapel.

My sincere condolences to all of Anne’s family and friends. I met Anne about four years ago at Holy Family Home. Anne quickly found her way into my heart and I was always happy to see her. She greeted me with a smile and was quick to call for my dog Jax. Anne loved Jax and threatened to sneak him away at any chance. The world is a little less bright, a little less happy without her in it. RIP Anne, til we meet again. Xxoo - Posted by: Beverley Finning (Friend) on: Jun 26, 2025
