Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD ALEXANDER BELL
Surrounded by close family, Don Bell, 86, of Morden, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Boundary Trails Health Centre.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrtle, his children, Scott and Donna (husband Rick Yaschyshyn); his grandchildren, Grace, Violet and Alex, his brother Larry (Kathy) and nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Millie Bell, and granddaughter Vivian.
Don lived a rich life pursuing his passions and interests. He grew up on a farm in Ostenfeld, Manitoba, then met the love of his life Myrtle in 1959. After getting married and completing his Master’s degree at UND, Don and Myrtle came to Morden in 1967. Don and Myrtle encouraged their children, Scott and Donna, in the love of sport, academics and the arts and taught by example what it meant to care for and support your neighbours and community, both in Manitoba and Mexico. Don’s varied passions included coaching, teaching, local history, music, art and travel. Through these pursuits Don impacted many peoples’ lives. He truly lived and believed that you “thank those who helped you by helping others”. He was a great mentor to many, but most important to him were his children and grandchildren. His legacy will live on through these relationships he forged throughout his amazing life.
A public Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Access Event Centre in Morden. All who knew and appreciated Don are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family will be establishing a scholarship to support student athletes.

I met Don in the early 1970's when he was teaching and coaching in Garden Valley while I was doing the same in Morden. Although our teams rarely opposed each other, we would often talk about different teams in the Morden - Winkler rivalry. We were both members of the Morden Centennial Joggers at that time, and man, he could run. Whether it was around the gym or the halls and stairs of Morden Collegiate, or along the streets or through the research station, he ran so effortlessly, while I was huffing and puffing trying unsuccessfully to keep up. My deepest sympathies go out to Myrtle and their family. - Posted by: Roy Eldridge (Former friend) on: Jul 08, 2025

My deepest sympathy to Myrtle & their children- Scott and Donna. It was very sad to have heard Don passed away. I knew Don in mid-90s when I just arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was a great coach and had a lot of coaching experience and knowledge. we shared a lot of coaching ideas whenever we met. I have learned a lot from him. Scott and Donna, the big dad has gone.
