Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD (GERRY) COLIN MCISAAC
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend on June 13th, 2025, at the age of 90.
Gerry leaves, to cherish his memory; the mother of his children, Anne McIsaac, sons; Tim (Jill) McIsaac, Colin (Cali) McIsaac, daughters; Laurie (Raff) Cantafio and Michelle (Doug), Thorsteinson. Grandpa will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Stephen (Melissa) McIsaac, Elly & James McIsaac, Nicolas & Julia Cantafio, Reagan, Abby & Owen Thorsteinson, and great-grandchildren Everlee & Leeland McIsaac. Dad was blessed to have long lasting relationships with numerous nieces and nephews located throughout Canada and the United States.
Gerry was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on May 6, 1935. He was the youngest of five children. Upon completion of high school, Gerry went to work at Midwest Drilling, a company founded by his father. Gerry’s career at Midwest Drilling brought him to Winnipeg in 1957. In addition to Midwest Drilling, Gerry held many positions at various companies, working with his older brother Rod, who played a significant role in Dad’s professional and personal life.
In 1972, Gerry purchased Midwest Drilling and Delro Industries. Dad provided leadership and direction to see both companies grow and prosper, in both good and difficult economic times. He enjoyed many years of professional success, until his retirement in 1998.
Gerry enjoyed traveling. In particular, he enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Gunn Lake, Ontario and frequent trips to Las Vegas with his son Bryan, who predeceased him in 2001. He also enjoyed numerous trips to Barbados and Mexico with family and friends.
Dad learned to fish and hunt at a young age, enjoying both interests for many years of his adult life. Dad enjoyed reading, history and keeping a close eye on the stock markets. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Toronto Blue Jays and the Winnipeg Jets. Dad also had a keen interest in thoroughbred horse racing. He owned several horses on his own as well as in partnership with some of his closest friends, spending many enjoyable hours at Assiniboia Downs.
The family would like to thank Germie, Rose, Haydee and Quennie for providing dad with care and companionship during the past 3 years. Your dedication is highly appreciated. The family would also like to extend our gratitude to the WFPS and the staff at the Grace Hospital for the professional medical care provided to Dad in his final days.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, no formal ceremony will be held. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission, Grace Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.

I first knew Gerry when we were teenagers. He lived in Flin Flon and I lived in The Pas and the kids in both northern communities crossed paths through, school and social activities and, of course, sports. Our northern Manitoba connection continued after we both moved to Winnipeg and he worked for Midwest and I worked in the Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting head office. For several years, Gerry played third on my curling team at the Granite Curling Club. Rest in peace old friend. - Posted by: Kent Morgan (Friend) on: Jun 25, 2025
