GERALD VICTOR STOESZ

1946–2025

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Gerald Victor Stoesz, who left us peacefully at the age of 78, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Gerry was a man of strength, deep convictions, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He embraced life with energy and enthusiasm, finding joy in the everyday and inspiration in the world around him.

Together for 28 years, he is lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy Stoesz; his children Trevor (Corrie), Sean (Sheri), and Melissa (Sam); his stepchildren Colin (Kristina) and Kristin; and his siblings Douglas, Debbie, and Glenda. Gerald was a proud grandfather to Tyler, Tegan, Rayna, Everly, Shayla, and Cali - each of whom brought light to his days. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, John and Sue Stoesz.

A true original, Gerry lived life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, passionate football and hockey fan - especially loyal to the Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins. He loved fast cars on open roads and spent countless hours curling, traveling, singing his heart out, and listening to his favorite oldies’ music. Known to many as a "plumbing superstar," he took pride in his work and the friendships it brought him. His heart belonged at the cottage, where he found peace, laughter, and endless sunsets. Gerry also had a collector’s soul - gathering treasures of all kinds, each with a story and a memory attached.

He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched - with his kindness, wit, and the joy he carried like a song.

A celebration of life will be held on June 26, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Nor-Villa Hotel, 1763 Henderson Hwy, with a program from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

In memory of Gerry, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Our deepest thank you to the staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit - your compassion and support meant the world to our family during Gerald’s final days.
