PATRICIA ADELE (MAGNACCA) COLEMAN

April 19, 1930 - July 8, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our mom, grandmother ("Noni") and great-grandmother, Pat Coleman, after a month at her beloved cottage at Clear Lake where she was surrounded by family and friends. Pat is reunited with her loving husband of 51 years, Bill, who has been waiting for her for 22 years.

Left to mourn and remember her lovingly are her sons, Greg Coleman (Lali) and Jeff Coleman (Penny); daughter Barbara Campbell (Bruce); grandchildren, Jordan (Katie), Janelle (Ben), Travis (Bree), their mother Elaine Coleman, and Emma; Jason (Allyson), Scott (Jacquelin), their mother Brenda Voort, Adam Burns (Jenn); Jenna Campbell, Ainslie Campbell-Schwartz (Adam), and Allison Campbell (Cain); as well as 11 great-grandchildren: Theo, Oscar, Penelope, Sloan, and Collins; Olen, Nova, Jaxx, Charlee, and Logan; Esme; and more on the way; beloved brother Allan Magnacca and sister-in-law Margaret Coleman, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom had a special relationship with "Auntie Pat." She also had many close friends who will sorely miss her engaging and optimistic personality.

Pat was born in Winnipeg to Steve and Grace Magnacca. The family moved to Brandon in 1942 where Pat started Grade 7 at Earl Oxford, where she met friend, neighbour, and classmate Bill Coleman who was to be the love of her life. Pat graduated high school from Brandon College (BU), then graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, also from BU. Pat was Lady Stick in her graduating year, along with lifelong friend Angus Juckes as Senior Stick. Pat and Angus are the last two of their close group of friends from the Class of '51 who have always stayed in touch. After graduating, Pat worked in the Family and Juvenile Court in Winnipeg as a Family Counsellor.

Pat and Bill were married in 1952 in Brandon, moved to Sudbury and Thunder Bay before moving back to Winnipeg in 1964 to be closer to family. Together Pat and Bill formed Patill Insurance Agencies in 1968, which they owned and operated as ideally-suited business partners for over 30 years, including over 20 years working side by side with their son Jeff. After Bill's death in 2003, Pat remained involved in the business until 2008.

While Pat's number one priority was always her husband and partner, Bill, the three children, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, she spent as much time as possible at the cottage at Clear Lake where the family gathered with her every summer.

Pat was a dedicated volunteer at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Things Shop with the "Monday Team" and on the St. Andrews Finance Committee, both for many years. Pat was a devoted alumni of BU and actively involved in the BU Foundation, for which she was awarded the BU Honorary Trustee Apex Award in 2003 to recognize her meritorious service and outstanding leadership of the BU Foundation Trustees. Pat loved to participate in the St. Charles golf and social activities for 53 years, including her last game in May at age 95. Pat and Bill, and later, Pat on her own, travelled extensively with and to visit family. Her special passion was the weekly bridge game, or more if she could arrange it. Pat was a keen competitor in all games, especially cribbage with her family. In all of Pat's work and activities she forged deep and long-lasting friendships. Pat will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

We would like to thank Dr. Alvin Schroeder for his professional, attentive, and loving care of Pat for 40 years until her last day.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Tuesday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow in the parish hall. Flowers gratefully declined.

Donations accepted with our thanks to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Things Shop, Grace Hospital Foundation, or St. Andrews Memorial Garden Fund.

Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • Our deepest sympathies to the entire Coleman Family. We knew Pat and Bill who were neighbors and friends of our parents, Bob & Phyllis Skinner, on Harcourt Street. Dad was a retired bank manager who assisted Pat with accounting functions when needed in their busy home insurance office. Pat and Bill were guests at our wedding in May, 1978. As the years passed we came to know them better as clients and friends. Pat gave me good advice in my business endeavors as she knew well how to manage a business and provide great customer service for repeat business. Her encouraging advice stayed with me over the years and kept me successful. Garth and I will always remember Pat as a lady with class, wisdom, integrity and kindness, and I know that her spirit is smiling down at all of us who knew and loved her. Sincerely, Doreen & Garth Skinner - Posted by: Doreen & Garth Skinner (Friends) on: Jul 18, 2025

  • My heart goes out to Pat’s family at this sad time. I first met Pat in 1989 with my partner, Hal Thiessen. Pat and Bill were a wonderful team, so warm and caring, welcoming me into their “group”. Family was so very important to her. We didn’t see each other often but when we did, it was always an enjoyable time. She lived a long time without her Bill and will be at peace to be reunited with him. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. RIP Pat. - Posted by: Coralie Bornais (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • It took one encounter with Pat to realize the meaning of a "life well lived." Her infectious smile, vivacious interaction and gracious demeanor could impact strangers and kin alike. At a spry 95, Pat was golfing, critiquing the Jets defense, and spending time with those she held most dear. As her spirit dwells vibrantly in Barbara and daughters, Pat remains an inspiration to the rest of us. - Posted by: Barry Schwartz (In-Laws) on: Jul 12, 2025
