RAYMOND ALAIN PEREUX
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother Raymond Pereux.
Raymond was born December 28, 1948, in St. George, Manitoba, the second son of five boys. He attended St. George School in early years, moving to Maison Chapelle in St. Boniface and finishing high school in Pine Falls, Manitoba. Ray attended St. Boniface College and the University of Winnipeg obtaining his Bachelor's Degree.
His family had started a family grocery store in 1956 on what today is known as Sagkeeng First Nation. After finishing University, Ray decided to go back to the family business with his father Alain and brother Guy. He stayed in the business, helping his father until it was sold to the local band in 1986. Ray then decided to settle in Abbotsford BC, working for Safeway until his retirement.
After retirement, Ray and his partner of 34 years, Janet Banks, moved to Parksville BC on Vancouver Island. Ray would describe living there in retirement as a paradise and loved his life there.
Raymond will be greatly missed and leaves behind to mourn his partner Janet Banks, brothers, Guy (Valerie), Rene (Jane), Alain (Margaret), nieces, nephews, and extended family. He had great love for his family and was the quiet protector of us all. He was there immediately for anyone who needed him. He had a great relationship with his good friend Mitch and was very grateful for everything that Mitch did for him.
Raymond was predeceased by his brother Hubert, father Alain, mother Yolande, and nephews, Guy Jordan and Justin Hubert Pereux.
Raymond loved to play cards, whether Poker, Cribbage, or any card game. We are pretty sure he's sitting at a card game now with a smile on his face and probably winning!
We would like to acknowledge the Nanaimo General Hospital and all the medical staff on the 6th floor. Thank you to Dr. Morris and Dr. Romain for their care and compassion.
At Raymond's request there will be no service.

My thoughts go out to all of Raymond's Family. Growing up in the small town of Pine Falls, you knew just about everyone and got to know Raymond a little better as he was once married to my cousin, Leslie. Raymond always had a ready smile and enjoyed conversation even though it was tough to get a word in when Leslie got going. I will always remember his engaging laugh. Sadly my generation hears of these sad passings more frequently than we would like. Sincere Condolences to all. Kim and Lynn Sharpe. - Posted by: Kim Sharpe (Friend) on: Aug 23, 2025
