With heavy hearts, on September 11, 2025, we said goodbye to Gerardo Rendina beloved husband of Gerardina (Dina), Papa to Antonio (Liz) and Nonno to Alessia and Juliana. He leaves behind his brother Mike, sisters-in-law, Lizabetta Magro and Maria Rendina; brother-in-law, Enzo Magro (Joan) and many nephews and nieces.
He was born on November 16, 1940, in Muro Lucano, Italy, where he met and married the love of his life Gerardina Magro in November 1959.
He worked as a bricklayer and together they planned their future. They made the decision to move to Canada and came to Winnipeg in April 1965. They joined family and friends that arrived here first. Antonio (Tony) made them a family of three and life was good.
In 1978 Gerardo (Gerry) and Dina opened Paradise Restaurant along with his brother and sister-in-law on Portage Avenue. Together Gerry and Dina built and worked on a dream for many years. In 2007 they decided to retire and take care of their granddaughters. The happiest times of their lives were spending time with family and friends, cooking and eating. There was never a time that you did not leave their house on an empty stomach! Gerry’s hobbies were making cheese and gardening.
Thank you to the pallbearers Pietro Magro (son of Enzo Magro), Pietro Magro (son Felice Magro), Enzo Rendina, Tony Rendina, Vince Adamo, Tony Adamo.
