JAMES GEORGE MAIR


Peacefully passed away at Tudor House, Selkirk, MB on September 11, 2025, with progressive aphasia and dementia.

Predeceased by brother Ken, and recently sister Joan Monteith of Edmonton, AB. Survived by Louise Mair, daughter Andrea (Orlando), brother Tom (Marion), sister Laura (daughter Karen), nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Joan Forbes-Mair.

Affiliations include past President and Honorary Life member with the Deer Lodge Curling Club, volunteer work with many events that included Briers and World Curling Championships, Shrine (Directors Staff), and University of Manitoba Alumni. Jim also enjoyed many years of golf and good times with his close friends the Happy Hackers.

Thank you to all the friends and family who understood and supported Jim throughout this difficult time. Special thanks to Jodi and Jay Shaw, Doug Forbes, David Leitold, Gordon Sparkes, Garth Dow, Gary Merridew, and Kevin and Tracey Kursen (neighbours). Thank you and with much appreciation to all the staff at Tudor House. With special mention to Judy, Stacy, Raj, Barinder, Jaspreet, Rozita, Jolene, Cindy, the Maple ward nurses and all other staff that helped with Jim’s care. Special thank you to the Tudor House Recreation department for the smiles you bring to your residents.

As per Jim’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.



 Dad, you will always be loved, forever remembered and deeply missed.



In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tudor House recreation department located at 800 Manitoba Ave., Selkirk. MB, would be greatly appreciated.

  • Jimmy and I grew up in St. James and spent our teen years with a like number of local teens. Later, we worked at Standard Aero with Gary Merridew, and Dave Scott.   • So very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I offer our sincere condolences to the Mair family from Joyce and Myself. All through grade school, high school, beginning golf at Assiniboine golf club, curling at the old then the new Deer Lodge curling rink and our stints as employees at Standard Aero Engine "Jace" was always one of the good guys, unfortunately gone way too soon.   • Jim was my first skip in men’s curling at Deer Lodge way back in about 1972-3. It was Jim and three of us junior age guys. Jim was a fantastic skip and so much fun to curl with. He treated us great. He was a funny, fun loving kind guy and I will always have fond memories of that year.
