It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Bob at the Gimli Hospital on September 7, 2025, at the age of 88 years.
Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Jennifer and David, Jason and Kirsten and Erin and Kory; grandchildren, Erik (Melissa), Karl, Nik, Bobby, Ellie, Mattias and Colby; his sister Joan (Allan) and in-laws, Rosemarie (Roger); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Gladys, his parents, Kate and Mundi; his in-laws, Disa and Dori; grandson Kristjan; brother Oscar; sisters, Emily, Inga, Joyce, Lillian, Florence and Doris; in-laws, Margaret, Steini, Buddy, Sandra, Dori, Pat, Irene, Walter, Leonard, Paul, Kjartan, Alice and Oli.
Dad was born on February 22, 1937, the sixth of nine children in the Gudmundson family. He married Gladys on July 14, 1962, and they made Arborg their home. Bob was a jack of all trades...a miner, fisherman, painter, fertilizer salesman, rink manager, Sunrise Lodge caretaker and what he loved best a farmer. He will be remembered for his friendly demeanor, his interest in everyone's lives, his endless jokes and cruising in his truck all over the countryside.
We would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Assisted Living, the home care staff and Donna Wishnowski for being there for us.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church in Arborg, Manitoba.
Dad, we miss you so much but are happy you are now with our Mama.
