EDWARD SPITULA

September 23, 1955 - September 28, 2025

Ed was known as the Flower, Landscaping, and Veggie guy.

Behind closed doors he battled with MDS, a group of cancers that affect the bone marrow.

We want to thank his community treatment care teams, stem cell donor, Health Sciences Centre Cancer Care and GD6 for extending his lifetime with his family and friends on earth. He will be missed dearly.

Please consider becoming a blood and/or stem cell donor.

If you see someone who is struggling and don’t know how to help them or what to say, give them a flower. Flowers speak the unspoken words and provide a moment of happiness.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2025 at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St.

In memory of Edward, please consider a donation to the Never Alone Cancer Foundation by visiting their website.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Marianne,Jay & Rhea - There are no words that I have to make the loss of Ed any easier for you. He fought such a hard battle to have a chance to remain in your lives as long as he could I am heartbroken that I never had the opportunity tell Ed just how much I loved his joyous personality & positivity & how much of an impact he had on me when I first met him. I hope he knew 🙏 We spent many hours riding around looking for the perfect first house for him to buy. It was one of the most enjoyable times in my business career that I will never forget - especially the time we ran out of gas. We laughed so hard ! What a pair !! I am happy J was part of his life when he married Marianne & had two beautiful children who made him immensely proud. I still have the wooden wishing well he gifted me when he moved to a larger house in North Kildonan where it sat & which he considered an eyesore - To me it is still a “treasure” in my yard in West St Paul & something to remember Ed by Ed had such a work ethic & along with Marianne set up a very successful Floral Business which then encompassed landscaping & vegetable gardening. WOW Restaurants chose to deal with him not only because of the care he put into his business but because of his personality. There are very few people in one’s life who make such an impact - Ed is one of those people Even though I have had no contact for years - J did follow what was going on in his & his family lives The memories I cherish of our relationship & the joy of having had Ed in my life will always remain in my heart ❤️ - Posted by: Win Blahey (Friend) on: Oct 04, 2025

  • I first met Ed about 20 years ago when I wanted to do a lot of landscaping but needed help choosing plants and trees and designing the overall space. It didn’t take long to appreciate Ed’s friendliness, his knowledge and creativity in landscaping, and how hard he worked along side his staff. I’ve had help from Ed many times since then, and he never changed. Always willing to answer the phone, drop by to discuss ideas for the yard, chat about anything and everything, and leave with a smile. Ed was as friendly, hard working and knowledgeable about his craft as anyone I’ve ever met. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to the Spitula family. - Posted by: Gord Trann (Customer and friend) on: Oct 04, 2025
