Guyanne grew up as an only child and frequently moved between different towns and houses before settling in Winnipeg. One constant during her childhood were summer days spent at the St. Laurent "Sheringham" cottage that she loved.
Guyanne dedicated her life to the wellbeing of others, whether it was the family she cherished or the hundreds of students she guided and mentored over her many years. As a parent and activist with Canadian Parents for French, she launched the French Immersion program in Thompson. She started teaching as a substitute to assist with the program, then completed her Masters degree to begin teaching 6th grade French (as "Madame Chaddock") on a full time basis.
Many of Guyanne’s grateful students have kept in touch with their "Madame" over the years, sending greetings and the occasional stuffed or porcelain frogs that she loved so much.
Guyanne loved travel. She was content to roam the continent, alone, by car - going to weddings, graduations, or just visiting people or places that intrigued her. She also loved genealogy, and combined this with her love of travel to frequently visit SLC and their genealogical archives.
Above all, Guyanne was always devoted and dedicated to her family, and wouldn't hesitate to do anything, big or small, to help them when they needed it (and even when they didn't). She was a force for good in the world and her presence will forever be felt by all that she touched.
Guyanne was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Marguerite Chauviere and is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Philip; her children and their partners, Mike and Amy, Rene, Jocelyne and Dedmer; and her grandchildren, William, Cambrian, Dorian, and Bastiaan.
Guyanne is interred at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, please donate time/money to either Canadian Parents for French or the charity of your choice.
