ISRAEL ASPER

OC, OM, QC

In loving remembrance of our beloved and visionary father and grandfather who passed away October 7, 2003.

Still so much in our hearts and sadly missed by his children, grandchildren and friends.

Not a day goes by where we don’t think of him and are grateful for all that he taught us and all that he gave to his community.

  • I remember Mt.Asper very well. I used to wait on him and his family in the sixties at the Pancake House on Pembina Hwy. They were such a lovely family. We think he was such a devoted Canadian. We still talk about him in our family about how he could have lived anywhere in the world , and he chose to live in Winnipeg. He did more for this city than anyone in history. He was a visionary and philanthropist , and a devoted family man. I can remember the day I voted for him,and was so sad when his party lost. I can remember the day he died and I stood outside at his funeral. Thank God his beautiful family still lives in Winnipeg. I think the museum of human rights should be named after Izzy Asper.
