Joan Leslie Brandstrom passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025.
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Facility).

When I first started working in the MPI Legal Department, Joan was my clerical supervisor. Affectionately known as “Mrs. B”, she taught me the ropes to being a legal secretary to Doug Strange and Jim Shaw. Later on, Joan became more of a friend, even attending my 8-year-old daughter, Sandra’s piano recital; a recital at which Sandra did not perform very well, sorry to say. But Joan was there, along with Terry Kumka, with a bouquet of flowers to cheer Sandra up. Joan was like that; always thinking of the other person’s feelings. After she retired from the Legal Dept., Joan kept in touch with me. And after my own retirement from Legal, Joan and I would meet every so often for coffee, catching up on life. By this time, Joan was more like a mother figure to me, listening to my problems of being a single parent to a special needs daughter. Joan was a very good listener and offered advice whenever she could. I will miss our little chats and her words of wisdom. Joan is in Heaven now, along with Doug Strange and Terry Kumka.
