CHASE MORTLOCK

Forever in our hearts, on October 13, 2025, Chase Mortlock, age 42, passed away.

He was preceded by his mother Jennifer Mortlock and will be sorrowfully missed by his father Steve Mortlock, as well as his grandmother Mortlock. He will also be missed by stepbrothers and sisters, Jesse, Kyle, Bretton and Devon, many aunts, uncles and family members across Canada, as well as longtime friends.

Chase was born on October 22, 1982, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in the Southdale Community area where he grew up playing many sports including hockey.

His love of recreational activities kept him busy. He enjoyed skateboarding which led to his first work experience at the skate stores in Winnipeg.

Following his graduation from J.H. Bruns Collegiate, Chase moved to Mexico and thrived working at a resort as an Entertainment Coordinator with then partner Carlye Antony. His career path led him to work for the City of Winnipeg for many years in the construction department, always learning and honing his skills.

In recent years, he moved to BC, working for CN Railway as a train operator. He loved his time in BC, in nature and outdoor activities. He spent several years as an incredible stepfather to two young boys, Durell and Cairo and his then partner Charisma.

He was generously loving to all his family, enjoyed life and living it to the fullest, and was always happy for others success.

I carry a lot of memories from those days. His ability to bring comfort, laughter, and energy to any space was one of his most beautiful qualities. Although we hadn’t kept in touch over the years, this one still hurts immensely. • Chase was always full of smiles and jokes. My memories of him, and the friendship we shared in high school, are truly cherished. We were both only children, an anomaly at the time, and we connected over that and so many other things. I wish we could have stayed close into adulthood, but life has its way of pulling us in different directions. I often wish I could have been a guiding light for him. My condolences go out to his father and extended family. This is such a difficult loss. But let's take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his mother on the other side, in heaven, where we will all meet again one day. - Posted by: Maria Dasilva (High School Friend) on: Nov 14, 2025
