Peacefully, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Theodore (Ted) Joseph Riese, aged 89, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg.
Predeceased by his first wife, Réjane (Brick), second wife, Yvonne (Bélanger), and parents, Karl and Monika Riese. Ted is survived by his siblings, Marianne, Eleanor, Henry (Karen), John, Juliana, and Paul (Joanne). Remembering him also are Réjane’s children, Micheline (Chris) Saniuk, Patricia (Phillip) Irwin, Patric (Joanne) Lebecque, Christiane (Wesley) Wagner, Joseph (Sandy) Lancelot, and Marie (David) Alfred; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Ted was born in Winnipeg on November 5, 1936, and grew up on the family farm in Marquette. He enjoyed being the oldest child with six siblings, swimming in the Assiniboine River and spending hours outdoors. Learning many skills on the farm, he went on to a fulfilling career as a mechanic and welder. Ted spent many enjoyable winters in Arizona, first with Réjane and later with Yvonne, making many new friends and wonderful memories. He especially enjoyed traveling, fishing, golf, country music and old-time dances.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West Saint Paul.
