GILBERT NADEAU

It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Gilbert Marcel Nadeau announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by immediate family on November 13, 2025, at the Boyne Lodge in Carman, MB. Gilbert was born to parents Cécile and Celestin Nadeau on June 14, 1936, in Elm Creek, MB. Gilbert lived a life deeply rooted in farming and family; he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.

With his wife, Joyce Nadeau, Gilbert shared a loving marriage of a remarkable 66 years. Together they built a life filled with laughter, hard work, and devotion to one another. Gilbert’s pride and joy extended to his only child, Brian Nadeau, daughter-in-law Rachelle, and his beloved granddaughters, Janelle (Toby) and Kara (Pierre), along with his four great-grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness and pride. Cherishing Gilbert’s memory are his siblings, Vivian, Gerry and Diane. He is predeceased by his father and mother, his sister Beatrice and his brother René.

Farming wasn’t just Gilbert’s job - it was his passion and life's work. He spent countless hours tending to the fields, and was always dreaming up new ideas and innovative ways to improve the farm. His ingenuity led him to design and build machinery that didn’t previously exist, one of the many testaments to his determination and creativity. He then established Nadeau Seeds Inc. and invented and sold the Rotary Ditcher. Even in quiet moments away, Gilbert’s mind was never far from the land he loved so much.

Those who knew Gilbert will remember his laugh, inventive spirit, kindness to others and his love for his wife and family. He always appreciated time spent with his kin and friends, and he did his best to create comfort in the people around him.

A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Fannystelle, MB at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Reception to follow at the Starbuck Hall in Starbuck, MB, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Gilbert’s life and share memories of the man who meant so much to them.

The funeral service will be coordinated by Adam’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Thank you to Boyne Lodge for the incredible care and kindness that the staff all provided to Gil and the family throughout.

Gilbert’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will continue to grow in the fields he watched over as well as in the hearts of all who were lucky to know him.

  • GIL was like a father figure to me My son Andre and I owned Riverside Welding and Design in IDC and we manufactured the Rotary Ditcher plus the sales part. We attended many trade shows together which was very enjoyable and of course a little Scotch at night. We had trust in Gil and he appreciated us a man of his word with a handshake Amen. - Posted by: Claude Trudeau (Business friend) on: Nov 15, 2025
