CECELIA ELIZABETH VANN

It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecelia Vann on December 5, 2025 at Riverview Health Centre.

The family is very thankful for the amazing help and loving care provided to her by the many dedicated nurses, care workers and other staff at The Rosewood and at Riverview Health Centre (Unit C1) as her dementia progressed over the last few years.

Cecelia will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her four children, Ken (Wendy), Keith (Ute), Lyle (Pam), Lee-Ann (Ron); her six grandchildren, Jamie (Amber), Dominik (Kacy), Nicole (Taran), Cody (Brooklyn); Joey (Nicole), Leah (Michael); and her great-grandchildren, Jorian, Atley, Kinsley, Paxton, Laval, Nixon, Mayson, Willow, Axel and Alexus. Cecelia is also survived by her sister Eleanor MacIntosh (Leroy), and her sister in law Louise Haas. She will also be lovingly remembered as ‘Auntie Cil’ by her many nephews and nieces and their families.

Cecelia was predeceased in June 2006 by her beloved husband of 53 years and the true love of her life, Les. Mom was also predeceased by her parents, her sister Margaret, her brothers, Richard and Ron and the many other immediate and extended family members and close friends that, sadly, have gone before her.

Born to John and Anne Haas in Camp Morton on May 14, 1935, Cecelia was raised in Gimli where she had the good fortune to meet Les. They married on September 6, 1952 and their children were all born in Gimli prior to the family moving to Winnipeg in 1965.

Mom loved her children and their families and along with Dad, could always be counted on to support them in any way possible, especially in their various activities and sporting endeavors over the years. Her favourite pastimes included curling, bowling, baking, dancing, playing bridge and other card games, hosting dinners, and socializing and spending time with family and close friends, both at home and at Willow Island. She was always a very kind, loving and outgoing person who touched so many lives in a positive way, and created countless memories that brought a smile to the faces of her family and her many relatives and friends throughout her 90 years.

As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Mom and Dad’s ashes will be laid to rest in Gimli Cemetery by family next summer.
