BARBARA JOYCE SAVOIE

(nee NEVIN)

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on December 15, 2025 after a lengthy illness with dementia.

Barbara was born on August 30, 1943 in Brighton, England to James and Rose Nevin (Tester). When Mom was 13 the family decided to move to Canada for a better life and arrived in 1957 settling in Winnipeg. Barbara and Guy were married on January 9, 1965 and together had five children. They lived in Winnipeg, Lorette and then settled in Cooks Creek where mom was a member of the choir at St. Michael’s Church. Mom was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished us all.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Dave and Susan, Bruce and Tarra, Peter and Allie, Nicki and Sean Bracken; grandchildren, Patricia (Keith), Christopher (Danielle), Rhyan, Ashtyn, Larry (Jean-Ashley), Owen, Onyx, Emily and great-grandchildren, Luci and Eli. Mom also leaves behind a sister Rosemary (John) Komadowski, brother-in-law Fern (Joanne), sisters-in-law Aline, Georgette Vrignon, Denise and Annette, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Guy, a son Michael, brothers-in-law, Gerry (Marie), Gilles, Ben Vrignon, sisters-in-law, Lucille (Adam) Selinger, Yvonne (John) Farry and Therese Savoie.

A special thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, Mom’s home for the last few years.

As per Mom’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
