It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Valquíria Andrade, who passed away peacefully from heart failure on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 85.
Maria will be deeply missed by her loving children, Lino (Shannon) and Maria (Lionel); her cherished grandchildren Steven (Kayla), Mark (Nicole), Kevin (Michelle), Daniel, Justin, and Jade; and her adored great-grandchildren Trenton, Isaiah, Aiva, and Kairo.
She was born on March 25, 1940, in São Jorge, Açores, Portugal, and immigrated to Canada in 1973 in search of a better life. Upon arriving in Winnipeg, Maria worked for many years as a seamstress, and later as a maintenance worker with Bee-Clean Corp., retiring at the age of 64.
Maria always lit up the room wherever she went. She was full of joy and life and lived independently until her passing.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to her dear friend Christina for her kindness and support; helping Maria with health monitoring, medications, errands, and, most importantly, for the friendship and love she shared with our mother.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
