FARID A. HOSEIN

Farid Aftab Hosein, age 71, of Winnipeg, passed away on December 13, 2025, in his home.

Farid was born on October 23, 1954, in San Fernando on the island of Trinidad. He is predeceased by his parents, Emmin and Gloria and his nephew Andrew. He is survived by his brothers, Feiz (Yolanda), Kqeim and Emmin Jr. (Betty); his sister Lisa; nieces Heidi (Brett), Rachael (Kory) and DeAnna; nephews, Vincent and Nicholas; great-niece Hazel; and great-nephew Odin.

Farid immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 13. He was immediately skipped ahead in school and graduated early from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. He entered the University of Manitoba at the age of 16 where he earned his Certificate in Education, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. He began his teaching career at the age of 20 and retired after 35 years.

Farid had a very calming demeanour and was a caring, intelligent and generous man. He was a talented writer and passionate about teaching and education. He was the master of puns and jokes that usually went over everyone's head.

He enjoyed reading, music, cycling, ping pong and tennis.

We are so proud of him and what he had accomplished throughout his life. He will be greatly missed.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Grand Mosque (2445 Waverley St.) between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., followed by the burial at Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery (455 Lagimodiere Blvd) at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Farid to Diabetes Canada.
