It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Krystyna on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at age 78 after a brief illness.
Krys will be lovingly remembered by her husband Frederick; her children, Danielle, Vanessa (Jim), Matthew and Alex, and her adored grandchildren, Simon and Elizabeth.
She was predeceased by her parents, Janina and Antoni Starak and sister Halina Zloty.
Krystyna was born in Hohenfels, Germany and came to Canada with her family in 1955. She attended Holy Ghost School where she met a group of girls who went on to become lifelong friends. She attended St. John’s High School and went on to work as a receptionist in a variety of settings including Winnipeg Piano where she met her future husband Fred. Krys and Fred were married in 1971 and recently celebrated their 54th anniversary. After having her children, Krys devoted her time to raising her family before returning to work in the Regent Ave. Walmart pharmacy for several years before she became a grandmother and dedicated her time to her grandchildren. Krys was a kind and caring person who devoted herself to supporting her family. She adored the time she spent with her children and later her grandchildren. Krys never missed a concert or dance recital and always made time to share in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Krys will be remembered for her kind smile, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love and support for all those who knew and loved her. We love and miss you very much.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church, 45 Foster Street. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street.
