Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAL WAYNE SIGURDSON
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Hal Wayne Sigurdson on January 7, 2026.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Janis (Nee Weatherburn), sons, Darren (Michelle) and Bryan (Becky), cherished grandchildren, Lexa, Lucy, Fletcher and Andie, and goddaughter Becky. He is remembered by his brothers, Ray, Ken (Peggy), and Terry (Angeline), and sister Cindy (Floyd) Thorkelson, along with brother-in-law Larry (Marlene) Weatherburn, sisters-in-law, Kim Wiebe and Wanda Zasitko, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hal’s life revolved around his family, his business, and his community (and not necessarily in that order!). If you ever had the pleasure of visiting him at the shop, you’d remember his unique sense of customer service, the smell of popcorn, and his trail of scattered bubblegum wrappers. Hal spent many hours enjoying hockey games, watching his grandchildren play various sports, and being the self-appointed beer manager of the Lundar Falcons. He was always focused on his family, but to be honest, he should have directed a little of that focus to the road!
During his years of retirement, Hal made many trips across the back lane to visit his Napa Girls, always coming back with a huge smile on his face. He also spent countless hours visiting with old friends for a card game or coffee; he went to make their day, but really, it made his day even better. In recent years, his adopted beach family looked after him, taking him on all sorts of adventures and along the way they even helped him realize that beer tastes better at the lake!
He put his heart and soul into Lundar, volunteering on countless boards and organizations. His fingerprints are all over this community, and his legacy will live on in each and every one of them.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Shannon Granberg, Michael Stoyanowski, and Scott Ward for their assistance and efforts on January 7, 2026.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Lundar Legion Hall. Private interment to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coldwell Lundar Community Foundation, Box 154, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0, or a charity of your choice.

I worked with Hal at Lundar garage back in 1967. He was a good man to work with and a very kind person. - Posted by: Norman Green (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2026

Hal was a best friend for over 55 years. We spent countless weekends and holidays visiting each other in Lundar, at the lake, and in Winnipeg, and we always cherished our trips to Mexico together. Hal was one of the most genuine and generous people I’ve ever known; his obituary describes him perfectly. He gave his time freely to family, friends, strangers, and the community alike. Over the past few years, he regularly visited the Lundar Personal Care Home, spending time with all the residents, even those he didn't know. He was a truly special man who is missed by everyone he touched. Hal, I trust the beer still tastes good! Our deepest condolences to Janis, Darren, Bryan, and families. - Posted by: David Fitzpatrick (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2026

This is a very sad time for the family and the community of Lundar. I was about 11-12 years old when I walked by the garage after school when I heard a guy say “ hey come here… I have a small job for you. Come to the garage Saturday morning. I had been asked to sweep the floor, front showroom area of the garage. That was the beginning of my career in the automotive industry. I worked for Hal and he took me under his wing. He had taken me fishing many times to Steeprock. I had never really realized how kind and caring he was to me until later in life. I would keep in touch with him and want to say, Hal you were very good to me and I appreciate you. Rest in peace my friend!! Andy Chartrand - Posted by: Andy (Friend) on: Jan 17, 2026

My brother and sister spent many times out in Lundar with the Sigardson's playing in the backyard of their home. Hal being the youngest of the Sigardson boys always played catch up. Hals smile will be missed. I am sure all of the Sigardson clan and the Eklunds will miss Hal. - Posted by: Robert Eklund (Cousin) on: Jan 17, 2026
