The family of Renee Diane Findlay is deeply saddened to announce her passing after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Renee was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bob; her parents, Adolphe and Henriette; her sisters, Maria and Diane; and her brother, Normand. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children: Jason (Amelie), Stephen (Victoria), Laura (Jason), Cynthia (Roland), and Heather (Nathan); her grandchildren: Justice, Cole, Kristian, Ayva, Avery, Owain, Natalie, Aidan, Kaitlyn, Arlee, and Emmett; her siblings: Paulette (William), David, Peggy (Ken), Tony (Marliese), Gisele (Steve), Roger (Tammie), Rob (Gisele), and Mike (Janid); as well as her sister-in-law, Norma (Normand), and brother-in-law, Dale (Diane).
Renee was born on December 25, 1947, in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, the second of twelve children born to Adolphe and Henriette Roziere. As a young child, she moved with her family to Griswold, Manitoba, before they eventually settled in Oak Lake, Manitoba, where Renee spent the majority of her life. A natural caregiver, Renee devoted much of her early years to helping her mother care for her younger siblings while attending school, graduating from Oak Lake Collegiate. She met her late husband through their work at the Oak Lake Co-op, and they married in 1973, together raising their five children.
Renee dearly loved the community of Oak Lake and was actively involved in many local organizations alongside her neighbours. She enjoyed going door to door collecting for Donor’s Choice, helping organize the annual community fair meal, attending the local quilting club, and participating in the gardening club, to name a few. A woman of strong faith, Renee was an active member of her parish community at St. Athanasius Roman Catholic Church and later Sacred Heart Parish in Virden, Manitoba. Well known for her generous and giving nature, Renee would often send her children with homemade buns or bread to neighbours and could frequently be found enjoying coffee with friends and neighbours.
Prayers will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Virden, Manitoba, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass for Renee will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Virden at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Lake Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the Oak Lake Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Renee’s memory to the Oak Lake and Area Foundation at oaklakeandareafoundation.ca/ways-to-give/
