BEVERLY SUZZANE FRANKFURT

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Suzzane Frankfurt (nee Land), 70, on January 20, 2026, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Winnipeg on April 21,1955, Bev was the middle child, of five siblings born to Marie Rose Jeanne Land (nee Roy) and the late John Andrew Land. Left to mourn her passing is her long-time devoted partner Gary Bell, her mother Jean(ne), and sisters and brother, Jeannette Russo, Patrice Land, Diana Kolke (Kenny), and Donald Land (Louise). Bev also leaves behind her son, Jaye Frankfurt (Megan); but she will rise to join the heavenly bodies of her late daughters, Danielle Trudeau and Nicole Fortier. Bev had many grand and great-grandchildren whom she loved immensely. They will surely feel deeply the loss of her presence. Also missing her will be her aunt Flo, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.

Bev was a unique individual. She had a great sense of humor, always finding something funny about life with which to share a laugh. She was also loving and giving and never turned away a lost soul in need, be it human or animal. Often, she extended herself to the point of exhaustion to help others. One of the roles she assumed later in life was family mediator and peacekeeper, a difficult but valued position within a large family with differences. As a child, Bev’s family nickname was Boobab, a name she wore fondly. Boobab was a fun-loving kid, who liked to achieve. She adored music, dancing and swimming (for which she won many awards). As a teen she went to Queen Elizabeth School then Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Disillusioned with the public school system, Bev left grade nine to embark on a varied career path. She enrolled in Pollock School of Beauty where she excelled in hairdressing. Then she became a truck driver, and like her father, mastered the machinery like a pro. Later in life she found her calling as a health care aid working at Concordia Hospital, and Park Manor Care Home, where she served with good purpose, touching the hearts of many and receiving recognition for her dedication.

Bev may be gone from the present but she will forever live in our hearts, and always be remembered for her loving and stoic ways.

Many thanks to the staff on the Palliative ward at Riverview Health Center where Bev spent her final weeks, and to her special friend and care aid Barb Steffanson.

There will be no service by Bev’s request, however a remembrance gathering may be scheduled for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or the animal rescue of your choice.
