DENIS TICHIT
It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely but peaceful passing of Denis Tichit on January 31, 2026, at the age of 75 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Henri and Marie Tichit, and his brother Laurie (Vicky) Tichit. He is survived by his niece Lynne (Kelly) Lodge, his nephews, Roger (Jennifer) Tichit and Marcel (Rita) Tichit, as well as their families.
To our family, Mon Oncle Denis, we say goodbye to a wonderful, caring, selfless man. He didn’t have an easy life, but he was always so very happy. He lost his father when he was six years old and he had to help his mother with the family dairy farm. Of course, you can’t forget that he was picking raspberries all the time. He told us at Christmas that he doesn’t really like raspberries. When they let the dairy quota go, he kept his beef cattle. During this time, he had many odd jobs, he worked for Durand Farms but finally settled at the job at Comte’s. He let go of his beef cattle and just continued to work there. He absolutely loved working there. He would say they’re his family, and I believe everyone who worked with him felt the same about him. He was a staple fixture in Notre Dame, having his meals at the Barrel and of course, talking with his many friends over coffee.
Everyone is welcome to attend the burial at the Notre Dame Parish Cemetery on Saturday, February 7, 2026, on at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Notre-Dame Centennial Hall at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to STARS or to the Notre Dame Hospital.
