Peacefully, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, following a short battle with leukemia, Catherine “Cathy” Sveinson, aged 73 years, passed away.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB. Attendants are encouraged to wear red in honour of Cathy’s favourite colour. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via the link on her obituary on Gilbart's website.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cathy’s memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Selkirk or to Project Linus – Selkirk Chapter.

Deepest Sympathy to the Sveinson-Montgomery Family on the passing of Cathy. I went to Oak Lake High School with Cathy and Roberta. Roberta and I re-connected at HSC where we were both employed. Cathy worked at SMH with my good friend Elaine A. Elaine also worked at HSC. Met Cathy again at Elaine A. Funeral. Full circle, "it's a small world after all".
