WOLFGANG ERICH GOERMANN

Wolfgang Erich Goermann passed peacefully on the evening of February 10, 2026, surrounded by those he loved.

Over the course of his life, he touched countless lives as the co-founder and coach of the Winnipeg Gymnastic Centre alongside his wife, Elfriede Goermann. He will be remembered for his charming sense of humour, persistence in the face of obstacles, and his passion for finding solutions to all manner of challenges.

His spirit lives on in his son and daughter, Jens (Kim) and Monica (Michael), and his granddaughter, Maia.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My deepest condolences Monica and Jens along with your family. Even though I was a young child I can recall when Wolfgang first came to my parent's house looking for room to room after arriving in Canada. I remember the times Wolfgang and Elfriede would take out for outings on Sundays so that mom and dad could have some time for themselves and all this in that in their blue VW beetle which they had brought back from Germany. Wolfgang Elfriede are now together as they were in life. Rühe in Frieden. - Posted by: Monica (Family friend since arriving in Canada) on: Feb 20, 2026

  • Our deepest condolences to the family, Wolfgang was always friendly and never hesitant to ask questions, he was consistent with his workouts every morning at the Reh-Fit Center and I will miss his welcoming smile and his "hello Julie." It feels like it wasn't that long ago that we spoke in regards to helping him get stronger and what machines would be beneficial and safe for him. So very sorry for you loss. • So sorry for your loss Jens, Monica, Michael and Maia. Your Dad and Mom created so many fond memories for me and often ones from your Dad that makes me smile and chuckle even to this day. He had a heart of gold and was a kind, gentle soul with a keen eye for detail. From gym experiences, to camping, to barbecues, to weddings, to celebrations of life and just casual coffee meetups at the Grotto. We loved every interaction with your father. One of my most memorable, was when a group of us were helping build the first spring floor at the gym. We were putting in long days on hands and knees glueing on the round bumpers for the springs and I was worried that I wasn’t doing it just perfectly. So I asked your Dad, “Is this ok? I’m worried I’m not lining it up perfectly.” He gave me that warm, joking smile he had and said, “For sure. This isn’t Hollywood you know.” And we chuckled. A small memory but one of many memorable moments we shared. He spoke so very highly of all of you with us and he loved you all very much. Jens and Monica, it is so awesome to see elements of your Dad and Mom in each of you. May he be at peace, sharing his eternal life in happiness with your Mom. • I am so sorry to see this news. Wolfgang and Elfriede were longtime customers at The Preferred Perch. They were both such lovely, kind people and I always enjoyed chatting with them when they came in for birdseed. I had a really nice talk with Wolfgang the last time he was in just about life and what it was like after the loss of his wife. I love the picture you used of him and his hat that he always wore! My condolences to you all. - Posted by: Sherrie (Business) on: Feb 14, 2026
