DAVID NICHOLS

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Nichols, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and community member, who left us on March 13, 2026, at the age of 86.

David lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his creativity, generosity, and love for the outdoors. He found great joy in painting and photography, capturing the beauty of the world around him and sharing it with those he loved. Whether behind a camera or with a brush in hand, he had a unique way of seeing life that inspired others.

David cherished the outdoors at Brereton Lake where he enjoyed fishing and duck hunting in his younger years, feeling most at peace surrounded by nature. His happiest moments were often at the lake, a place he returned to repeatedly, creating lasting memories with family and friends.

He also enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition of bowling, a pastime that brought laughter and connection throughout the years. David was a die-hard Blue Bombers fan and loved the CFL game with heart and passion. Watching games at the lake or in the stands he was always there to cheer on his team.

Beyond his personal passions, David was committed to his community. As a dedicated volunteer with the Optimist Club, he gave his time and energy to helping others. He was volunteering to cook burgers at the Buffalo BBQ and to selling Xmas trees in the cold. He volunteered in many youth activities, helping as a Scout leader and coaching pop warner football, leaving a meaningful and lasting impact.

Our father had a special love for music, especially the lively tunes of the 1950s. He could often be found smiling while cutting a rug, bringing joy to any room and reminding us all to celebrate life whenever we can.

He is survived by Diana Nichols, sons Kevin and family, Keith and Jen and Colin and Candace and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Care (liver) or Riverview in honor of his generous spirit.

Forever loved, always remembered.
