BRIAN TELFER

January 22, 1946 - March 17, 2026

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our kind, caring, and loving husband, Dad, Papa, and friend. Brian passed peacefully at home with his wife Penny of over 57 years by his side. He fought a courageous battle right until the very end.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Penny, their son Jeff (Tysa), and their daughter Kristin (Armando), grandchildren Harry, Eva, Lily, Layla and Mason, as well as sister Margaret (Al) Corbett, sister-in-law Lois Fritsinger, brother-in-law Wayne (Marg) McKnight and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law John McKnight (Emily) and Bill Fritsinger and niece Erin Corbett.

Brian spent 35 years working for Air Canada, where his gentle and kind demeanour helped him make lifelong friends. He will always be a part of Team A.

In 1968 he married Penny, the love of his life, and they created a wonderful life with their two children and grandchildren.

In 1980, Brian worked tirelessly to build a cottage for his family to enjoy. He loved his time at the lake and the friends he made. Never one to sit still, he always looked forward to planning the next project with meticulous detail. No matter what needed fixing or building, we could always count on him. If Papa can’t fix it, nobody can.

Brian and Penny loved to travel, exploring what the world had to offer. They especially enjoyed their time in Mexico each winter with their Amigos. Being there kept them young with the live music, dancing, and afternoons at the pool.

Brian was a huge sports fan. He never missed cheering on the Bombers or watching a Jets game.

Thank you for always being there for us. You always provided a sense of safety and the feeling that everything would be alright. Our hearts are broken without you here, but you will forever live in us. We will lead by your example with kindness, caring, generosity, and trust. We love you and miss you dearly.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life with immediate family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

  • Neighbours and friends. We lived across the street and talked almost everyday, just a hi or how are the kids. In Mexico Brian and Penny treated us like royalty, drove us to many small towns and showed us the true and less touristy part of the country. A kind and generous person who always made you feel better even if you were going through struggles of your own. Penny, Jeff and Kristen we are truly sorry and sad.
