Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA ANN TALLAS
Barbara Ann Tallas (née Meakin), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on May 7, 2026.
Barb was born in 1952 in Neepawa to Walter and Marion Meakin. She had four siblings: Don, Marilyn, Ken, and Cam. She grew up in St. James and attended school in the area.
Barb married her husband, Dale, in 1977, and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Jenelle and Kristin. Several decades later, they welcomed Daryl into the family and were blessed with the absolute love of Barb’s life, her grandson, Evan.
Barb was deeply dedicated to her family. She was the cheerleader, the consummate school mom, and the organizer of every function and gathering in life. She extended herself in countless directions and managed it all with remarkable ability, keeping her home, yard, place in Gimli, and home in Phoenix in perfect and pristine condition.
Barb was the quintessential shopper and loved traveling, dancing, gardening, bike riding, workout classes, working at Heritage School, Saturday adventures with Dale, and spending summers with Evan.
She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm hugs, and the special way she treated her family, friends, and everyone she met - you could always count on Barb.
Barb’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital floor 5B for their compassionate care.
Barb’s celebration of life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, on May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barb’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.

I’m so very sorry to hear about the loss of the magnificent Mrs. Tallas. During my 18 years teaching at Heritage School, she was always my homerooms, “Lunch Mom,” and she was truly extraordinary. I always looked forward to seeing her whenever I came back to visit. She was an incredibly amazing person, and she will be deeply missed. - Posted by: Bryan Dean Benjaminson (Friend) on: May 25, 2026

My wife Carolyn and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Barb Tallas. We had the pleasure of being neighbours of Barb and Dale's in the Crestview Village area of Winnipeg for approximately 10 years. During that time we gathered together with many neighbours, including Barb and Dale. We socialized with the Tallas family and enjoyed many great times together before leaving the city in 1992. We extend our sincerest condolences to Dale and the entire Tallas family on Barbara's passing. Rest well Barb. - Posted by: Donald (Don) R. Halbert (Friend) on: May 23, 2026

Barb's passing is such a sadness and my childhood memories of her are of her energizer bunny personality. I have been thinking of all of you my dear cousins since the news and am painfully reminded of not just the distance of miles but also of the many years that have gone by. Sadly, even my memories of time spent together have become dimmer over the decades. But know this, you are all on my mind and in my heart today and will be for time to come. - Posted by: Bev and Guy Stickle (cousins) on: May 23, 2026

Condolences to family. As a 'Good fit' work out group of 4, your mom of course, Cindy, Barb L. and I (Louise) shared a special bond, seeing each other 4 mornings a week. We’re missing her terribly at her specific spot, huge void. We’re missing her daily hugs her beautiful smile and her love we shared for one another. As she often said we were meant to be friends. We miss her terribly. In Heaven we’re sure she has already organized a Zumba class/ weight training class. From: Good Fit - Posted by: Louise Fedorchuk (Best friend.) on: May 23, 2026

To our Dearest Angel! You will be deeply missed, but your spirit and love you shared with all of us will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace and watch over all of us, as we will need it! There are no words that can truly ease our grief. Thank you for being in our lives, your kindness, love and beautiful memories you brought to our lives. We will always remember you in our hearts. For the family, may you find comfort in the love that surrounds you, the support of family and friends and with no doubt the memories that will forever live in our hearts! Gary and I are here for whatever you or the girls may need, for support, a shoulder to lean on, or just simply sitting quietly beside you. Sending you all our love and deepest condolences.
