It is with sadness we announce the passing of Diane Irene Letwin on May 1, 2026, at the age of 88 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg.
Diane will be lovingly remembered by her cousin George Lobay (Peggy), godson John Stroich and her many other friends. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Irene.
Born on April 10, 1938, Diane grew up in the Point Douglas area of Winnipeg and later moved to East Kildonan.
After graduating from St. John’s High School, Diane pursued her passion for helping others entering nursing training at Misericordia General Hospital. After graduating from the Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing, her career as a registered nurse included 10 years at Misericordia Hospital where she held numerous clinical and teaching positions including assistant evening supervisor, clinical instructor, head nurse of male medical and surgical ward, and an instructor for the practical nursing program.
In 1970, Diane completed her Bachelor of Nursing Degree at the University of Manitoba. She then went on to assume the position of Assistant Director of Nursing at the Manitoba Rehabilitation Hospital. In 1974, Diane became Assistant Executive Director at Concordia Hospital where she worked until she retired in 1995.
Diane had a love for German Shepherds, she proudly owned, bred, and showed her dogs at numerous events. Buddy, Star, Magic, Pride, little Buddy, Dusty and later Brody were her pride and joy. Diane also enjoyed spending time at her cabin at Star Lake for many years.
Diane generously gave back to many community organizations including actively volunteering for The Concordia Foundation, the Immanuel United Church and fundraising and running a support group with the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba. In retirement, Diane found a love for bowling, regularly attending a senior’s bowling league at Rossmere Lanes with friends.
A funeral service for Diane will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel United Church (755 Golspie Street). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, or Immanuel United Church.

Diane was my nursing. mentor. She helped me into a head nursing position at Concordia. Then to the University of Saskatchewan, to complete Hospital and Health Care Administration.
