LINDA KLASSEN

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at Riverdale Personal Care Home on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Mom was predeceased by her husband John; parents, Lawrence and Margaret Dunn and brothers, Jackie, Bill and Larry. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Bob (Sue); daughter Tracy (Dave); and step children, Sandy (Randy), Linda and Sher (Eric) as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was born on March 12, 1945 in Brandon, the youngest child and only daughter. She attended school at St. Augustine’s and later graduated with a nurse’s assistant certificate. Mom was always proud of her work in personal care homes. She was gentle and compassionate with her residents.

Mom met dad in early 1970. With him, she also gave her heart to his son Bob and immediately took him in as her own.

Mom and dad married in 1971. Tracy followed in 1972. Through the years, connections with dad’s daughters, Sandy, Linda and Sher were cherished. Grandchildren came and great-grandchildren followed and all were rejoiced.

Mom worked on and off throughout the years, doing personal care, housecleaning and cooking. Her love of cooking and baking is a topic of conversation when we as a family reflect. Whether it was pies, cookies, buns or cakes being decorated into the wee hours of the morning for holiday dinners, she happily took it on for the family. Not to be missed was that big green bowl of buttery, salty popcorn that we all enjoyed with her on the weekends.

In 1996, mom and dad moved to their dream acreage. They worked together to plant hundreds of trees, vegetable and flower gardens to create their space. They were so happy with everything they created there and shared it with friends and family alike.

Mom and dad moved to Rivers Personal Care Home in 2014, her final home where she lived for 12 years. She created more family around her while living there and cherished her nurses, aids and support staff. We as a family can never thank them enough for the love and support to both mom and dad.

Since losing her husband of 52 years only two years ago, mom has given us the opportunity to be reminded of her incredible strength and resilience over and over. Mom, you did walk again and we are so proud of you. We hope you ran into dad’s arms when you found him in Heaven.

Interment will take place at Rivers Cemetery on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at Rivers Community Church, 447 Edward Street at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Linda may be made to the Riverdale Personal Care Home, 512 Quebec Street, Rivers, MB R0K 1X0.
