It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Mary Buskens, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the age of 95. A strong and vibrant woman, Mary was also a very private and guarded person, but had a heart of gold, and showed her love in so many ways. She cherished her family and friends deeply and was grateful for the life she lived. Special thanks to Actionmarguerite St. Joseph’s for the wonderful care they took of Mary during her final years.
Born in Indonesia in 1931 to a family of three children, Mary moved first to Holland at the age of 19, then to Canada at the age of 21, where she met the love of her life, John, with whom she spent 56 wonderful years together. Mary is now reunited with her husband, John. May she rest in peace.
Mary leaves behind her two sons, Tony and Rick, their wives, Donna and Shazia, and her three grandkids, Armaan, Raushan, and Kamran.
We will not be holding a traditional memorial or funeral service. Instead, we ask that loved one’s honour Mary in their own special way. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Mary’s name to the Alzheimer Society.
