ARTHUR (ART) CLARK

January 27, 1930 - June 7, 2026

With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life fully lived, we announce the passing of Arthur "Art" Clark on June 7, 2026. He left us peacefully at the remarkable age of 96, a man whose life was defined by the hard work and grit characteristic of his generation.

Born in Ingelow, Manitoba, Art was a resilient man - a rare combination of ingenuity and a can-do attitude. Whether he was renovating his own home or showing others how to do so, he was always generous with his time and his vast knowledge of how to fix anything. For many years, he dedicated himself to the care of others as a compassionate psychiatric nurse, bringing comfort and understanding to those who needed it most. Never one to sit idle, he also channelled his "free time" into the trades, successfully running his own electrical business.

Art was exceptionally blessed in love and family throughout his journey. He shared many beautiful years with his first wife, Helen, building a foundation of love and memories that he cherished deeply. Later in life, he was fortunate to find love a second time with his wife, Ruth, who brought continued joy, companionship, and shared adventures to his later years. Although both Helen and Ruth preceded him in death, both women held a profoundly special place in his heart.

After retiring, Art happily traded the cold winters of Manitoba to bask in the sun of Palm Springs and Yuma. These winter vacations were a highlight of his later years, where he enjoyed the sunshine, the fresh, abundant local crops, and a relaxed pace of life in the company of good friends.

At 96 years old, he witnessed nearly a century of history, yet his favorite moments were summers spent tending to his garden, traveling in his RV to visit his many brothers, and taking his friends to the cottage. The cottage was a place to connect with friends, spend days fishing at Lake of the Woods, and sit around swapping fish stories that seemed to grow bigger every year, just like the tomatoes in his garden.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Marlene Smart, and his loving grandson, Grayson Smart, along with the extended family and friends who loved him and will carry his memory forward.
