LINDA JANE ANTYMIS

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that Linda Jane Antymis (nee Snider), mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, cousin, and friend suddenly passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the age of 80.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Melvin Roy Snider (1965) and Margaret Jeanne Snider (1992).

She leaves lasting memories and love with her beloved sister, Alma; her two children and their families, Cindy (Alex, Danielle, Nicholas), and Russell (Kathy, Sarah, and David).

Linda was born in 1945 and lived a full life, devoting herself to raising her two children as a single mother since her 30s. She graduated from the Marvel School of Cosmetology after grade eight and continued to work at the hair salon for the Hudson Bay Company for 23 years. She created and managed her own hair styling salon in Osborne Village for years called Bacall's and continued to practice her profession for select clients and family right up to her passing. She loved hair styling and made many life long friends with her coworkers and with her clients as well. Linda was a professional ballroom dance teacher in her youth and was often the life of a dance party. Linda had many friends all throughout her life, that she would make efforts to see, either within Canada or abroad as they were very important to her. In the 1970s Linda became a member of Transcona Memorial United Church and has since been a faithful church member, contributing both her time and talents. Her most recent talent of the past 13 years was on stage, in the annual Dinner Theatre at TMUC where her humour, quick wit, and acting ability generated much joy and laughter. All who had the pleasure to know her have stories of her kindness, generosity, hilarious sense of humour, positivity and love.

But Linda's greatest joy was always her family; Linda/Hammy/Grandma/Grantie deeply loved her mom and dad, her sister, brother-in-law, her three nephews, her two children and their spouses, and her four grandchildren. They all loved her too. She was affectionate, caring and always supportive. She will truly be missed. With her pain now in the past, she has found peace and will go with God and reunite with predeceased family and friends.

A memorial service in her honour will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 am at Transcona Memorial United Church (TMUC) at 209 Yale Ave. West. With road construction taking place, parking is available at the Transcona Christian Reform Church on Victoria Ave. The service will also be live streamed on the TMUC Facebook page.
